ADULT THERAPY
At Hawthorn Hive, we offer both in-person and virtual therapy for adult clients seeking meaningful support and growth. Our approach is grounded in Humanistic Therapy, which honors the whole person and sees each individual as inherently capable of healing, self-awareness, and growth. We believe that therapy is a collaborative process—one that empowers you to reconnect with your inner wisdom, values, and sense of purpose.
Sessions may include traditional talk therapy or a blend of experiential practices, including mindfulness, somatic awareness, breathwork, guided visualization, or creative expression, depending on your preferences and needs. Our therapy space is welcoming and accessible, and we aim to meet you exactly where you are, both emotionally and physically.
Many clients appreciate the flexibility and accessibility of online therapy. We offer virtual sessions through a secure, HIPAA-compliant portal on TherapyNotes.com, allowing you to receive care in a comfortable and private setting of your choosing. Whether in-person or online, our goal is to provide an experience that feels supportive, grounded, and tailored to you.
We also offer a free 15-minute telehealth consultation to explore your needs and see if Hawthorn Hive is the right fit. This conversation helps determine whether virtual or in-person therapy best supports your goals. During your first few sessions, you can expect to build trust and rapport with your therapist while identifying the therapeutic path that resonates most with your personal journey.

CHILD & TEEN THERAPY
"Children don't misbehave. They behave, either positively or negatively, to communicate. Small children communicate through their behavior because that is the only method of communication they have. Even when children become verbal, though, they still aren't able to articulate big feelings and subtle problems well verbally, so as parents, it's our role to 'listen between the lines' of our children's behavior to discern the need being communicated. Setting boundaries is not about misbehavior. It's about guiding behavior, and guidance is something we provide through everyday interactions with our children."
— L.R. Knost

Children often struggle with things like:
-
Big, powerful emotions they don’t yet understand.
-
Feeling sad or low for the first time, without knowing why.
-
Pressure from school, sports, or packed schedules.
-
Social stress, anxiety, or friendship challenges.
-
Family changes—like separation, divorce, or a new step-parent.
-
Grief after the loss of a loved one, a pet, or another meaningful connection.
-
Fears or trauma tied to school lockdown drills, community violence, or unsafe situations at home.

Teens (and young adults) commonly experience:
-
The physical and emotional shifts of puberty and identity exploration.
-
Performance pressure in school, sports, or planning for college and the future.
-
Their first heartbreak or betrayal in a friendship or relationship.
-
Struggles with self-esteem, identity, and the desire to feel understood.
-
Adjusting to shifting family dynamics.
-
Exposure to cyberbullying, community violence, or trauma.

How therapy can help:
When children and teens feel connected to their therapist and supported at home, they often:
-
Develop healthy coping strategies
-
Increase emotional awareness
-
Learn to regulate and communicate their feelings
-
Build confidence in setting boundaries for their well-being
Therapy at Hawthorn Hive is a confidential space. What your child shares stays private, unless safety concerns arise. We also offer parents or guardians one free 15-minute monthly telehealth consult to share updates and insights. While therapists won’t share specific session details due to confidentiality, they’ll provide general feedback about your child’s progress toward their goals.
Although it’s not required, we highly recommend that parents or guardians supporting a child in therapy also engage in their own work—whether that’s through individual therapy, parenting classes, or family therapy. True change happens within the whole family system, and the healing process is most effective when everyone is learning, growing, and showing up together.
